How to look after your watch on vacation
The long-awaited vacation is the most delightful time of adventure and relaxation! Those that are joyful don't pay attention to the time, yet they do not leave their favorite accessory unattended. Proper care of the watch during the holiday ensures that they will not let you down at the most crucial moment, and will be in time for the flight, breakfast at the hotel and an excursion. Take advantage of our tips - and everything will be “hakuna matata”!
Storage
To make your watch ‘feel like at home’ on vacation, bring along a branded case for storing jewelry accessories (or another convenient box, in which the watch usually lies). The watch will be in its comfortable environment, and you will be confident of its safety.
Magnetic fields
The metal detector frame at the airport and train station is a small door to vacation. Before you go through it, we immediately remove the mechanics and send on the first trip along the inspection tape with other things (the magnetic fields of the frame affect the accuracy of the mechanism). The frame will not hurt the quartz mechanism, but sometimes security officers themselves ask to remove the watch so that they do not squeak.
Mode
On vacation, the daily routine often changes: you can lie down later and sleep longer ... But mechanical watches with manual windings haven’t heard about sleep and rest (make them perfect workaholics!) - do not forget to wind them regularly at the same time.
Extreme
Do not engage in extreme sports while wearing a jewelry watch. Conquering the mountain peaks and any hiking trails in difficult places better fits the sports watch. Meanwhile, leave your precious watch waiting in the room and counting minutes before your return.
Water
Do not enter the water with jewelry watches; generally it’s better not to take them to the beach, let them wait in the room. A harmless ride on a catamaran? Only if you are sure that your beloved friends will not want to splash and push each other into the water!
Sun
Direct sunlight can damage parts of the watch movement and overlay elements on the dial. So calmly wear a watch at least at + 40º on your hand, but avoid leaving it in an open place under the scorching sun.
Ambulance
Did the watch fall, break or stop? Wait for your return home and only then go to a specialist. Do not try to go to workshops at the place of rest. Even if the battery just runs out, it's better to wait. You never know what questions will later arise to the local master, and you will already leave ... For now, just make sure that dust does not penetrate into the damaged watch (it is best to put them in the closed box, which we talked about at the beginning of the article).
